According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to change that with iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16. The new system will allow users to enter captive Wi-Fi credentials once on one device, and Apple will securely sync that information across your other Apple devices using iCloud.
That means if you log into a hotel’s Wi-Fi portal on your iPhone, your iPad and Mac will be automatically authenticated the next time they try to connect to the same network—no repeated logins or re-entering forms.
How Will It Work?
The feature will likely integrate with iCloud Keychain, Apple’s secure password and credential storage service. When you complete a captive portal login on one device, the login data—such as accepted terms or inputted credentials—will be encrypted and synced via iCloud. When your other devices encounter the same network, they’ll use the saved credentials to bypass the portal page automatically.
