  • First off, open Safari on your Mac. Note: If the app is not present in the dock, head over to the Applications folder inside Finder -> then drag the Safari app icon and drop it into the dock. Besides, you can also press the CMD+spacebar -> search for Safari in the Spotlight and launch it.
  • After that, control/right-click on the app icon and choose New Private Window

Alternatively, you can also make use of a handy keyboard shortcut to lock the private windows in Safari. 

  • To get started, launch Safari on your Mac.
  • Now, control/right-click on the app icon and choose New Private Window. 
  • Next, hit the Control + Command + L keys at once and you are all set!

Your private windows will be instantly locked. Therefore, you can browse the web with the desired peace of mind knowing that no one will be able to bump into your private searches without your permission.

Going forward, you will need to type your Mac’s password or use the Touch ID to unlock your private windows. And, that’s all there is to it!
