iOS 18 Dynamic Wallpaper is uber cool, without any doubt whatsoever. The best part about this all-new wallpaper is the knack for changing its colors dynamically based on the time of the time. Though most have found the Dynamic Wallpaper working as expected, a handful of folks have reported that the wallpaper is not working as it doesn’t automatically change colors. If you have also found it ill-functioning, I have got you covered with quick fixes! Read on…
Fix iOS 18 Dynamic Wallpaper Not Working on iPhone
What could be coming in the way of your Dynamic Wallpaper? While a software bug could very well be in the fray, I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of a wrong configuration. Plus, there could also be some features that tend to have an adverse impact on this wallpaper.
1. Ensure That You Have Allowed the Dynamic Wallpaper to Change Its Colors Automatically
To begin with, be sure that the dynamic wallpaper has got the license to change its colors automatically on your iPhone.
- Bring up the Lock Screen by pressing your iPhone’s side button.
- Now, long-press on the screen to access the wallpaper gallery -> Hit the Customise button -> Lock Screen.
- Next, tap on the Appearance icon and make sure that the Automatic option is selected in the menu.
- After that, restart your iPhone.
- Once your iPhone has rebooted, check if the Dynamic Wallpaper has started to work as usual.

2. Make Sure That the Dynamic Filter is Selected
While testing the “Dynamic Wallpaper”, I noticed one interesting thing. If the “Dynamic” style is not selected on the wallpaper customization page, the Dynamic Wallpaper doesn’t change its colors.
- On your iPhone Lock Screen, long-press on the screen and hit the Customize button -> Choose Lock Screen -> Now, swipe toward the right from the left edge to ensure that the Dynamic style is selected.
3. Enable Location Services
If Location Services is disabled on your iPhone, it might be causing the problem. Allowing the Dynamic Wallpaper to access your location data may help fix it.
- Go to the Settings app -> Privacy & Security -> Location Services -> and turn it on.
4. Disable Low Power Mode
When activated, Low Power Mode not only throttles background activities but also tends to disable power-hungry features in order to save as much battery as possible. If this power-saving mode is enabled on your iPhone, I suspect it’s creating trouble for the Dynamic Wallpaper.
- Head into the Settings app -> Battery -> Turn off Low Power Mode.
5. Are You Unable to Activate the Depth Effect for Dynamic Wallpaper? Remove Widgets!
Bear in mind that the “Depth Effect” doesn’t work with the Dynamic Wallpaper when widgets are added to the wallpaper. If you have added widgets to the Dynamic Wallpaper, remove them in order to bring the depth effect back on track.
- Reveal the Lock Screen -> Long-press on the screen -> Customize button -> Lock Screen.
- Now, tap on the minus icon at the top of the specific widgets to remove them.
- Tap on the Done button at the top right to confirm the changes.
6. Delete the Dynamic Wallpaper and Set It Up from Scratch
At times, you resolve the iOS 18 Dynamic Wallpaper issues by just resetting the wallpaper.
- Press your iPhone’s Side button to access the Lock Screen -> Long-Press on the screen -> Swipe up on the wallpaper -> Hit the Delete button at confirm.
- After that, tap on the “+” button -> Scroll down to the iOS 18 section choose a Dynamic Wallpaper, and set it up.
7. Update Software
If none of the tips has worked in fixing the Dynamic Wallpaper problem on your iOS device, try updating the software as a bug could be the real culprit.
- To do so, launch the Settings app -> General -> Software Update -> Download and install the update.
And that’s pretty much it! Your dynamic wallpaper should now be working as usual. Feel free to share your feedback and the tips that have restored the wallpaper on your iPhone.
