9 Ways to Fix App Switcher Not Working in iOS 18 on iPhone/iPad 

To enhance multitasking or let users switch between apps seamlessly, iOS comes with an “App Switcher”. Just swipe up from the Home Bar to bring up the app switcher and then dive into the apps you would like to use. But what if the “App Switcher” doesn’t show up or fails to let you switch apps? 1. Ensure That Your Screen Guard Is Not Damaged and Working Perfectly

  • If your screen guard is damaged, worn out, or of poor quality, it may prevent touch gestures from working properly. Therefore, make sure you are not dealing with a faulty screen protector.

2. Ensure That Apps Are Open in the Background 

To begin with, make sure that apps are open in the background. If there are no apps open in the background, the app switcher won’t show up. 

3. Learn How to Bring Up the App Switcher 

It’s worth pointing out that the process of activating the app switcher on the modern versions of the iPhone/iPad is a little different. 

  • On iPhone and iPad without the Home Button: Gently swipe up from the Home Bar and hold along the middle of the screen to access the hidden App Switcher. 
  • On iPhone and iPad with the Home Button: Double-press the Home Button to bring up the handy App Switcher on your device. 
  • After that, you can swipe left or right to switch between apps. And if you want to quit any app, just swipe it up.

4. Hard Reset Your iPhone or iPad

  • Simply, press the volume up button. After that, press and let go of the volume down button.
  • Then after, hold down the power button until you see the Apple logo on the screen. 

5. Update All Apps 

If some apps are misbehaving or don’t appear in the app switcher, try updating them. 

  • To get it done, launch the App Store -> tap on your profile at the top right -> Scroll down and hit Update All.
