While one way is to use the built-in search tool, the other way is to directly dive into the “Places” section and use the map/grid view. Besides, you can also use the super handy Spotlight Search tool to easily track down any images based on location. As to which method is the best, it all comes down to your convenience at a particular time.

1. Use the Search Tool to Find Photos Based on Location in Apple Photos

  • To get going, launch the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Now, tap on the Search icon at the bottom of the Photos app.
  • Then, navigate to the Places section.
  • After that, you can swipe right on the locations showing under Places to reveal the location in question.
  • Finally, tap on a location to view all the relevant pictures.

2. Search Photos by Location from the Albums Section in Photos App

  • First off, open the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • After that, tap on the Albums tab at the bottom.
  • Then, head over to the People & Places section.
  • Next, tap on the Places box.
  • Next up, you can either choose Map or Grid view to browse through the photos. In the Map view, you can pinch the screen to zoom in or zoom out on locations.

  • Make sure you have allowed Spotlight to access your Photos. Navigate to the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad -> Scroll down and tap on Siri & Search. After that, find Photos and then turn on all the toggles.
  • Next, swipe down from the middle of the screen or tap on the “Search icon” at the bottom of the screen and then type in the location in the search bar.
  • Next up, Spotlight will instantly show photos captured at that location. Tap on Search in App and you are good to go!
