Are you annoyed by the phone calls coming through your Mac and wish to put an end to it for good? Take a breath, mate! While this continuity feature is designed to offer a seamless experience by letting you receive phone calls right from your Mac, it may not be for everyone’s taste. Luckily, there are 4 quick ways to disable Mac Phone calls.
Turn Off Mac Phone Calls: 4 Methods Explained
So, how do you block Mac phone calls? Well, considering that many people may not buy into this continuity feature, Apple lets you turn off the Mac phone calls both temporarily and permanently. Thus, you can choose the preferred method based on your convenience.
1. Permanently Disable Mac Phone Calls
If you have decided to altogether stop the phone calls coming through your macOS device, configure FaceTime to turn off calls from your iPhone.
- To get it done, launch the FaceTime app on your Mac. Simply, press the CMD+Spacebar -> Enter FaceTime and open it.
- After that, click on the FaceTime menu at the top left corner of the screen and choose Settings in the drop-down menu.
- Now, make sure that the General tab is selected.
- Next, ensure that the box next to Calls From iPhone is unchecked.
2. Temporarily Disable Mac Phone Calls from Control Center
Just in case you wish to prevent calls from coming to your Mac on a temporary basis, Do Not Disturb can get the job done for you.
However, there is one downside that you need to know. When DND is enabled, all other notifications will be silenced on your Mac. While it’s not a dealbreaker, you should keep in mind this tradeoff.
- To do so, just click on the Control Center icon in the upper-right corner of your Mac’s menu bar.
- After that, click on Focus.
- Finally, select Do Not Disturb and you are good to go!
Do note that if you don’t choose a duration like for 1 hour or until this evening, the DND will remain enabled until the next day. So, if you want to keep the phone calls away from your Mac during a certain time, choose a duration. Else, just activate DND and relax.
3. Temporarily Block Mac Phone Calls Using Siri
Guess what, you can also use Siri to turn off the Mac phone calls. To do so, just trigger Siri and say, “Turn off Do Not Disturb mode.” When you want to disable the DND, invoke Siri again and then ask it to do the needful.
