Despite a number of notable enhancements, Siri has remained relatively less powerful than rival virtual assistants. Notably, Siri still can’t generate images or process files which is a bit of a letdown. Keeping these shortcomings in mind, Apple has launched a ChatGPT Siri extension. Hence, you can now use Siri along with ChatGPT on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac to compose text, create photos, and even answer complex questions. Sadly, a good many users have reported that they can’t use the ChatGPT Siri extension. If this issue has troubled you as well, now is the right time to resolve the problem.
Fix ChatGPT Siri Extension Not Working on iPhone, iPad, and Mac
From software/hardware incompatibility to the systemwide restriction to a software glitch, there could be multiple reasons why you are unable to get the most out of the ChatGPT extension on your iDevice.
1. Software and Hardware Compatibility
- To begin with, ensure that your device meets the ChatGPT requirements. Note that the ChatGPT extension supports only A17 Pro and later as well as Apple M1 and higher devices.
- Talking about the software requirement, make sure your iPhone/iPad is running iOS 18.2/iPadOS 18.2 or later.
- If you are using a Mac, be sure it’s powered by macOS Sequoia 15.2 or later.
- Be sure you are at least 13 years old to be able to use this feature.
2. Trying to Unlock the Premium Features of ChatGPT? Ensure That You Have the Needed License
- Bear in mind that if you would like to unlock the premium features of ChatGPT such as custom chatbots, make sure you have the license to do so.
- If you have the premium subscription, go to the System Settings/Settings app on your iDevice > Apple Intelligence & Siri > ChatGPT > Sign in using your OpenAI account.
3. Disable/Enable ChatGPT Extension
Many a time, you can resolve the ChatGPT Siri extension problem by turning it off and on.
- To get it done, head over to the System Settings/Settings app on your iDevice > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and choose ChatGPT.
- After that, disable the ChatGPT extension > restart your iDevice, and re-enable the extension.
4. Make Sure the ChatGPT Extension is Not Blocked on Your Device
Another important thing that you should do without fail is to ensure that the ChatGPT extension is not blocked on your iDevice.
- On your iPhone/iPad: Head into the Settings app > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Intelligence & Siri > ChatGPT Extension and choose Allow.
- On your Mac: Navigate to the System Settings app > Screen Time > Content & Privacy > Intelligence & Siri > Ensure that the toggle for ChatGPT Extension is active and hit the Done button to confirm.
5. Update Software
Should the ChatGPT extension remain dysfunctional, try updating the software as the issue could be the byproduct of a software bug.
- On your iPhone/iPad: Open the Settings app > General > Software Update.
- On your Mac: Open the System Settings app > General > Software Update.
Once you have updated the software on your device, check if the ChatGPT extension has begun to work with Siri. If it has come back on track, it was a malicious software glitch that was coming in the way of this all-new feature.
