A Quick Look at 6 Exciting iOS 18 AI-Powered Features (Rumored)

iOS 18 is all set to arrive with a ton of exciting AI-powered features pretty much like the Android 15. Driven by the ChatGPT, iOS 18 will introduce features that take full advantage of AI. In the latest edition of his “Power On” newsletter, Mark Gurman has provided more detail about the iOS 18 AI-driven features.

1. Improvement to Siri’s Voice Capabilities

According to the report, Apple will bolster Siri’s voice capabilities, with a sole emphasis on giving the virtual assistant a more conversational feel. Besides, the company will also incorporate new features that help users with their day-to-day lives. Termed “Proactive intelligence, it’s aimed at providing a more personalized experience.

2. Auto-Summarizing Notifications

Another pretty neat feature that is all set to launch in the upcoming version of iOS 18 is the auto-summarizing notifications from your iPhone. That means you can easily figure out what the latest alerts have to offer without having to dig into your “Notification Center”.

3. A Quick Summary of News Articles

For folks who love to keep track of trending news articles, iOS 18 will provide a quick summary of news articles. Hence, you will be able to track the latest news articles without having to hop from pillar to post.

4. AI-Powered Transcription to Voice Memos

As someone who heavily uses the “Voice Memos” app, I’m pleased to know the forthcoming iOS version will add the AI-powered transcribing feature to the app. If you ever find a recording confusing or a bit difficult to understand, the “Transcribing” feature will help you understand the audio recording.

5. Smarter App Suggestions

What’s more, the ChatGPT-powered iOS 18 will also enhance the existing features that auto-populate your calendar and provide much smarter app-related suggestions.

6. AI-Based Photo Editing

The stock photos app for iOS will also get AI-based photo editing features. So, you can expect the photo editing to be more powerful and efficient. Especially for folks who need to create posts for social networking platforms like Instagram and Snapchat, the AI-driven editing tools will come in handy.

Can Apple Ever Compete with Google & Microsoft in the Fast-Paced AI War?

While Microsoft and Google have heavily invested in AI right from the onset, Apple has opted to go ahead with a Big Bang partnership with OpenAI. In other words, how far iOS 18 manages to get the most out of AI entirely depends on how well ChatGPT is integrated into the mobile operating system.

Though it would be too early to write off Apple in the fast-paced AI war, the iPhone maker seems to be on the back foot for now. If the Cupertino giant doesn’t go on the offensive on this front, it might never be able to match or even come close to the ultra-intelligence of Google and Microsoft.
