Pro Tips to Tame Mounts in Crimson Desert

In the vast world of Crimson Desert, you can’t just walk barefoot. It would take months just to explore the map if you started walking barefoot. To avoid it, a mount is your best companion in the game.

Crimson Desert features around 29 types of mounts, including horses, lizards, dragons, mechanical mounts, and others. You can capture any wild mount that you find in the process and tame it to begin riding it.

But taming a mount in Crimson Desert is in itself a headache, like defeating enemies and completing quests. You need to find the mount, tame it, and then register it to ride. Seems overwhelming, doesn’t it? Well, here’s your guide to tame mounts in Crimson Desert. Whether you are a beginner still figuring out what to do or an intermediate-level player, this guide will help you.

Getting Ready

To tame a mount, you need to check a few things on your list:

  • Treats for the horse– You need treats to attract the horse. Buy treats like hay, carrots, or sugar cubes from the merchant.
  • Finding Wild Horse Locations: You will find the horses in their natural habitat, such as grassy fields, valleys, or freshwater lakes. If you see horses with unique coat colors, it means they have special abilities.

The Taming Process

Look for the horses at the location mentioned above. Once you find them, you will have to lure them to you. For this, take the treat out of your bag. Once you have the treats out, the horse will come close to you. Put the treats on the ground, and the horse will start eating them, and that’s when you start the taming process.

Once the horse is close enough, you will see the ride option. Ride the horse, and you will see the horse will start struggling trying to get you off its back. You will get a timer on your screen. You now need to move in the opposite direction from the horse. If the horse leans forward, you need to lean back; if it leans left, you need to lean right. Simply press the arrow keys in the opposite direction of the horse.

Keep doing this until the taming meter is full. It will take some time, and the horse will keep struggling until then. Once the meter is full, the struggle will stop, and you will be riding the horse.

Registering the Horse

Once you have tamed the mount, you will see the stats of the horse, including handling, attack, jump power, etc. After taming the horse, you need to register it so it’s available every time to ride.

Once the taming process is completed, you will see these three options on your screen:

  • Register and Ride- This option registers the horse at the stable merchant and also allows you to ride it.
  • Register and Send to Stable- This will register the horse and send it to the stable; best if you are in the middle of a quest.
  • Ride- You can ride the horse, but it won’t register.

You must go with the Register and Ride option to register your horse. If you are in the middle of a quest, then go for Register and Send to Stable. The horse will be sent to the stable, and you can get them back from there anytime you want.

If you want to just ride the horse, then choose the Ride option. But this won’t register the horse, and if you want it later in the game, you will have to ride it to the stable merchant to register it, or restart the taming process.

This way, you can tame the basic horses and mounts. But if you want to tame other rare mounts, then you will need to unlock Beast Taming Skills. Basic horses are easy to tame, and for that, you can follow the above process.

Once you have tamed the horse, you need to level them up to unlock new skills. Also, you must part your mounts safely when you go into combat. Mounts have their own health bar, and when hit, they lose health.
