At Tech World in Shanghai, Lenovo has unleashed its most powerful gaming laptop yet — the 18-inch Lenovo Legion 9i. Built for gamers, 3D creators, and power users alike, this machine is packed with top-tier specs, futuristic display options, and a design that commands attention. In this article, we are going to take a detailed look at the Legion 9i and what sets it apart from the rest. Read on…
A Display That Stands Out
It’s worth noting that Legion 9i offers two display variants:
- A 4K 2D panel (3840×2400) with a 240Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time.
- An experimental 3D display that shifts dynamically between 4K 2D and 2K 3D. Powered by eye-tracking and a lenticular lens, it can push up to 440Hz in Full HD 3D mode — all without the need for glasses.
Whether you’re gaming at high FPS or designing complex 3D scenes, the display technology is built to impress.

Premium Build and Unique Aesthetics
Moving to the build quality, each Legion 9i lid is crafted from eight layers of hand-forged carbon fiber, giving every unit a distinct look. It’s not just for show — this design is lighter than aluminum yet still feels exceptionally high-end.
Audio also gets a boost with a six-speaker smart amp system, Nahimic audio support, and customizable RGB lighting that reacts to your games.

Top-of-the-Line Internals
Under the hood, the Legion 9i houses Intel’s Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, configurable with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU with 24GB of GDDR7 VRAM.
With a combined 280W power envelope, Lenovo includes a Coldfront Vapor cooling system that uses vapor and hyper chambers, four fans, and targeted cooling zones — even for RAM and Wi-Fi. Noise levels are kept under 48dB, even under heavy load.
You can configure it with up to 192GB DDR5 RAM and 8TB of NVMe storage across four SSD slots.
Ports, Extras, and Availability
Talking about the ports, extras, and availability, the 9i has got you fully covered. Yeah, got that right!
There’s no shortage of connectivity: Thunderbolt 5, HDMI 2.1, USB-C, USB-A, RJ45 Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. It also features a mechanical RGB keyboard, a 5MP webcam with e-shutter, and a 99.99WHr battery powered by a 400W adapter.
The Legion 9i launches first in China, with global availability — including North America — coming this fall. Pricing is unconfirmed, but expect a premium.
