How to Use Instagram Blend on iPhone & Android Like a Pro

Instagram has unleashed a brand-new feature called Blend. This new add-on is designed to bring friends together through a shared Reels feed. What I love the most about it is that it provides a fun and dynamic way to discover content with your friends and dear ones. In this hands-on guide, let’s learn how to use Instagram Blend on iPhone and Android like a pro.

What Is Blend and How Does It Work?

To begin with, let’s briefly understand what exactly Blend is and how it works.

Frankly speaking, the whole idea behind the Instagram Blend is to allow a group of friends to enjoy the shared Reels feed. It exists inside your Instagram DMs.

When you’re in a one-on-one or group chat, you can tap the Blend button at the top-right corner of the conversation to send an invite. Once at least one person accepts the invitation, the Blend feed is activated for that chat.

This personalized feed is updated every day with fresh Reels, selected based on the viewing habits of everyone in the Blend. If someone shares a Reel to the chat, that too will help shape what appears in the Blend.

It’s worth pointing out that each Reel shows who it was recommended for, but only users who’ve joined the Blend will receive personalized suggestions. Plus, every chat can have its own unique Blend, offering a different set of Reels based on the participants in each group.

When the Blend refreshes—either daily or when someone new joins—you’ll receive a notification in the corresponding chat.

How to Start Instagram Blend on iPhone and Android

  • To get started, launch the Instagram app.
  • After that, tap the DM icon or Messenger icon at the top right corner of the screen.
  • Then, you need to select a chat where you would like to create a Blend.
  • Next, tap Blend at the top.
Enable Blend on iPhone and Android
  • Next up, note that everyone in the chat will receive an invite. And once your friends have accepted, their Reels will be included in the shared feed.

View and Interact with Your Blend

It’s really cool to watch and interact with a Blend.

    1. To do so, fire up the Instagram app and head to your DMs.
    2. Now, tap the chat that consists of the Blend.
    3. Up next, hit the Blend at the top-right to view the curated feed.

While watching Reels in a Blend, you can react or reply directly from the feed. Your response will be sent back to the chat along with the Reel. You can still like, comment, and share publicly using the standard icons.

Remove Reels and Leave a Blend on Instagram

What if you wish to remove Reels, or for that matter, entirely leave a Blend? No worries! It’s just as simple.

    • Simply, head over to the Instagram app > open a DM > tap the three-dot menu at the bottom right of the Reel.
    • After that, you have to choose Remove from your blends. Note that it will delete the Reel from all the Blend feeds you’re part of.

Exit an Instagram Blend on iOS and Android

    1. Open the chat that contains the Blend.
    2. Tap Blend at the top-right.
    3. Tap the three-dot menu inside the Blend.
    4. Select Leave this blend.

Customize Your Instagram Blend Feed on iOS and Android

Want to adjust the type of Reels you’re seeing?

    • Tap the three-dot menu on any Reel.
    • Choose Interested to see more content like it, or Not Interested to reduce similar suggestions.

Keep in mind, when a new person joins the Blend, the feed will refresh to reflect their activity. If someone leaves, their recommended Reels will be removed. Instagram’s sensitive content settings also apply—Blend will always follow the strictest filter setting among its members.

With Blend, Instagram is taking a step toward more social, shared content discovery. Whether you’re bonding over funny Reels or discovering new interests with friends, Blend brings a fresh, collaborative way to scroll.
