How to Stop Sharing Contact Poster with Anyone Automatically in iOS 17

Contact Poster is one of the coolest iOS 17 features along with the Live Stickers and FaceTime video message. What makes it so impressive is the ability to let you showcase your contact information in an eye-catching visual avatar. Whether you want to make a contact poster using an adorable photo, make use of Memoji as poster or craft a stunning monogram poster to represent your profile like a pro, it’s got you covered. But what if you don’t want to share your custom contact poster with anyone? Fret not, there is a quick way to stop sharing contact poster automatically with anyone on iPhone.

Stop Automatically Sharing Contact Poster with Anyone on iPhone

By default, your iOS 17 lets you share your contact poster with anyone who has your matching phone number or Apple ID. If you don’t want anyone to have a look at your bit too funky or personal poster, keeping it in check isn’t a big deal.

  • First off, open the Phone app on your iPhone running iOS 17 or later and tap on the Contacts tab at the bottom of the interface. Or, launch the Contacts app and tap on your Contact card at the top.
Tap on the contact card
  • Now, tap on Contact Photo & Poster
  • Under the “Share Automatically” section, choose Always Ask and then quit the app.

That’s pretty much it! From now onwards, you will get an alert about whether to share your contact poster or not when calling someone who has saved your contact information.

Of course, if you ever happen to change your mind and would like to share your poster without any restriction, go back to the same setting and choose Contacts Only.

Note:

  • If you want to completely disable the name and photo sharing, go to the Contacts app -> contact card -> Contact Photo & Poster and then turn off the toggle next to Name & Photo Sharing.
