Recently, many users have reported that Apple Music opens automatically whenever they log in to their Mac. How to Stop Apple Music from Auto-Launching on Mac

So, how do you stop Apple Music from auto-launching on macOS? Apple offers a dedicated setting to let you take control of login items. Hence, depending on your needs, you can choose to add or remove apps from the list. Bear in mind that having too many apps in the “Login Items” list can cause your Mac to boot slowly. Therefore, the fewer apps your Mac has to launch during login the better it is.

No prizes for guessing! In this guide, we will use this very setting to remove Apple Music from the “Login Items” list so that it doesn’t launch automatically on your Mac.

  • To get started, click on the Apple menu at the top left corner of the screen.
  • After that, select the “System Settings” option in the drop-down menu. Another way is to press the CMD+Spacebar -> search for the System Settings app and click on it.
Choose System Settings
  • Now, scroll down to find “General” and click on it.
  • Next, choose “Login Items”.
Choose Login Items
  • Next up, select “Apple Music”.
  • Up next, hit the minus button to remove the Apple Music app from the list.

And that’s pretty much it! From now onwards, Apple Music will no longer open automatically on your Mac.

Of course, if you ever wish to bring this macOS feature back on track, return to the same setting -> click on the “+” button, and choose Apple Music (Or, any other app you would like to auto-launch on your Mac).
