It’s worth pointing out that Apple’s Emergency SOS satellite feature supports only iPhone 14 Series. That means you must need iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, or 14 Pro Max to be able to share your location via satellite with Find My. Equipped with a combination of custom-designed components and integrated software, the iPhone 14 Series can directly connect to a satellite.

Ensure That Emergency SOS Satellite Feature is Available in Your Country or Region

Note that Emergency SOS via Satellite feature is currently available only in the US and Canada. As per reports, it is going to be available in Germany, Ireland, France, and the UK from December 2022.

Another important requirement that you must check off without fail is to ensure that your iPhone has iOS 16.1 or later. If your iPhone is not updated yet, go to the Settings app -> General -> Software Update and then do the needful.

Keep in mind that the satellite service is available for free for only two years starting at the time of activation of a new iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, or 14 Pro Max. After that, you will need to subscribe to the service (optional).

How to Share Your Location via Satellite

Step 1. To get started, launch the Find My app on your iPhone 14.

Step 2. Now, tap on the Me tab at the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Step 3. After that, swipe up on the card to access the “My Location via Satellite” option.

Step 4. Finally, tap on Send My Location and you are good to go!

Now, people in your Find My friends’ network will immediately get an invitation to view your current location. Once they have accepted your invitation, the location sharing will kickstart.
