As a user, it’s always recommended to be well-prepared for miscellaneous problems. While it’s relatively easy to figure out the cause of some common problems like sluggishness, overheating, or battery drain, some issues require you to dive a bit deeper. And if you are not tech savvy, it does become a challenge to spot the culprit and encounter it.
For this very reason, Windows offers a “Clean boot” which works like a pro engineer in diagnosing the issues.
Customize System Configuration
- To get started, press Windows + R to launch the Run dialog box on your PC.
- After that, enter msconfig.
- Then, hit Enter to head over to the System Configuration window.
- Inside the System Configuration window, make sure that the General tab is selected at the top.
- Now, choose “Selective startup”.
- After that, ensure that the “Load startup items” option is unchecked. Be sure that the “Load system services” and “Use original boot configuration” options remain checked off.
- Next, select the “Services” tab at the top.
- Next up, make sure that the “Hide all Microsoft services” box is checked at the bottom. It will help you conceal the pivotal system services to prevent accidental disabling.
- Up next, hit the Disable All button.
- Click on the Apply button and hit OK to confirm.
Disable Startup Programs
- To begin with, open the Task Manager on your PC by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys at once.
- Select the Startup tab in the left sidebar.
- Right-click each of the listed programs and select “Disabled.
Restart Your PC and Test It
- Having gone through the above steps correctly, close all the open windows on your device.
- Then, hit the Start menu -> Power icon -> Restart.
- Upon restarting, your PC will enter the clean boot mode. Now, it’s time to test and inspect the problem.
How to Exit Clean Boot Mode on Windows 11
- To get rid of the clean boot mode, press the Win+R -> enter msconfig to open System Configuration -> General tab at the top -> Normal startup -> hit Apply -> OK -> restart your PC.
