How to Perfectly Customize Today View Widgets on iPhone

Long before the fully customizable Home Screen arrived or the elegant Lock Screen graced the iPhone, “Today View” had been the shining star for folks who would crave Android-style customization on iOS. Though Today View had plenty of limitations and also lacked versatility, most iPhone users (including me) would find it adorable. Fast forward to iOS 17, it has become more customizable and user-friendly. If you are yet to unlock the full potential of this slightly forgotten feature, follow along to learn how to customize Today View widgets to your liking for a more personalized experience.

If you don’t want it to be limited in functionality, you can deck it up with a variety of widgets – including your beloved Home Screen widgets.

  • To get started, swipe right from the left edge of the screen to access the Today View screen.
  • After that, scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen and tap on Edit
  • Now, once again scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap on the Customize option to proceed.

Add Home Screen Widgets to the Today View Screen

Adding your favorite widgets to the Today View screen is dead simple. Just touch and hold on the screen to get into the jiggle mode -> After that, drag your favorite Home Screen widget and drop it on the Today View page (which you can access by swiping right from the left edge of the screen). Be sure to hit the Done button at the top right to confirm the action.

  • Later, if you ever want to remove any Home Screen widget from the Today View screen, just touch and hold the screen -> go to the Today View page.
  • Hit the “-” button at the top left of a widget -> tap Remove in the menu to confirm.

Create a Custom Widget Stack on the Today View Screen

To further amp up the customization game, you can create custom widget stacks for Today View. To get it done, simply drag a widget and drop it onto another. Since there is no restriction, you can create a stack of several helpful widgets. What makes it so useful is the ability to automatically rotate and show the desired information based on time, location, and preference.
