How to Migrate Notes From Evernote to Apple Notes on Mac

Gone were the times when the Apple Notes app looked nothing less than bloatware designed just to make numbers. Thanks largely to a series of notable improvements and the addition of handy features including “Quick Notes”, password protection, document scanning, and annotation, the stock note-taking app has become one of the best in the business and a strong alternative to popular note-taking apps such as Evernote.

Recently, Evernote has restricted new and existing free users to one notebook and a maximum of 50 notes. While this blockade might not seem to be a dealbreaker for folks who take notes only once in a blue moon, it’s going to disappoint a large of Evernote users. Move All Your Notes From Evernote to Apple Notes With Ease

Probably the best part about this official migration process is that it doesn’t harm the folder structure. Hence, you do not need to worry about any mess-up or losing precious ideas that you have jotted down.

  • To get started, open the Evernote app on your Mac.
  • Now, click on Notes in the sidebar.
  • After that, click on the Edit menu at the top.
Click on Notes
  • Next, click on Select All in the menu. Bear in mind that it will select 100 notes maximum.
Click on Select All
  • Next up, click on the File menu and choose Export Notes from the menu bar.
Now click on Export Notes
  • In the Export dialog, ensure that the Evernote ENEX (.enex) is selected as the preferred File Format. Additionally, do not forget to check all the relevant boxes to ensure the important note attributes are selected.
  • Up next, click on  Export to proceed.
Choose the desired media format
  • Now, give a suitable name to the export file and click on Save.
Migrate notes from evernote to Apple Notes
  • Next, launch Apple’s Notes app on your Mac
  • Then, click on the File menu and hit “ Import to Notes” from the menu bar.
Choose Import notes
  • Navigate to the .enex file that you have exported from Evernote. If required, tick off the box next to the Preserve folder structure on import.
  • After that, click on Import. Make sure to click on Import again to finish.
