From what I can tell, this new add-on works like a charm. Though there are some limitations you need to keep in mind.

  • To start, unlock your iPhone and long-press on the Home Screen.
  • Then, tap on the Edit button at the top left corner of the screen.
Customize Home Screen menu
  • From the options that appear, select Customize.
  • You should see the Tinted option in the menu—tap on it.
  • At the bottom of this menu, a small iPhone case icon (right next to the iPhone icon) will appear. Selecting it automatically changes the Home Screen icons and widgets to reflect the color of the MagSafe case currently attached to your iPhone.

This customization works because Apple’s MagSafe accessories (or the certified ones) are embedded with identifiers that the iPhone recognizes. When you put on an official Apple MagSafe case, the system detects its color and applies it to your Home Screen.

However, if your case doesn’t display a colorful MagSafe animation when you snap it on, icon tinting won’t work. This limitation means the feature is primarily intended for Apple-branded MagSafe cases.

In addition to matching your case, iOS 26 also gives you the flexibility to align icons with the color of your iPhone itself. By tapping the iPhone icon within the Tinted menu, you can instantly shift your Home Screen theme to mirror your device’s natural finish. For further control, you can still choose a tint color manually or even pull shades directly from your wallpaper.

With translucent “Liquid Glass” styling applied across all icons and widgets, this new option creates a consistent, polished look. Whether you prefer case-based matching or custom colors, iOS 26 ensures your Home Screen can reflect your style more than ever.

Now that you have unlocked this hidden gem, make the most of it to ensure your icons are always pretty much in line with your taste.
