While only time and real-life rigorous testing will reveal whether or not Apple Intelligence will beat the notable challengers like ChatGPT and Gemini, the massive hype has already put Apple’s AI on a strong footing. So, when Apple jumped on the bandwagon and unleashed Apple Intelligence with the release of the iOS 18.1 developer beta, millions rushed to take the AI for a spin. Sadly, a good many of them were left scratching their head wondering whether or not they could get Apple Intelligence in iOS 18.1 beta outside the US. If this question has come your way, now is the right time to sort it out for good.
Get Apple Intelligence on iPhone and iPad Outside the US
Before running ahead with the quick steps, there are a couple of things that I would like to address upfront.
Device Compatibility for Apple Intelligence
Since Apple Intelligence has been designed to work with only Apple M-Series chip and A17 Pro chip and higher, you should make sure that you have the iPhone or iPad model that can get this feature.

Download and Install iOS 18.1/iPadOS 18.1 Betas
- On Your iPhone or iPad, go to the Settings app > General > Software Update.
- Here, you should see the iOS 18.1 beta. Now, download and install the 18.1 developer beta by following the usual procedure.
- However, if the beta doesn’t appear, tap on the Beta Updates -> choose iOS 18.1 developer beta -> tap on the back button at the top -> Now, allow your iPad/iPhone to check for the update and show up the iOS 18.1/iPadOS 18.1 update.
- Then, go ahead to download and install the latest update.
Change Apple Intelligence Language to US English on Your iPhone or iPad
Knowing the fact that Apple Intelligence currently supports only US English, you will need to change the country/region to the United States on your device.
- Navigate to the Settings app on your iPhone/iPad -> Apple Intelligence & Siri -> drop-down menu next to Language and choose US English.

If the Apple Intelligence is still not available on your device, I would recommend you change the country/region to the United States on your device.
- On your iPhone or iPad, head into the Settings app -> General -> Language & Region -> Region -> United States.
- After that, reboot your iDevice.
Join Apple Intelligence Waitlist and Set It Up
- Having changed the language/region, navigate to the Settings app and choose Apple Intelligence and Siri -> “Join Apple Intelligence Waitlist” -> Join Waitlist.
- Now, you will be informed that you have successfully joined the Apple Intelligence Waitlist. When it becomes available on your device, you will get a notification to activate it.
- Alternatively, you can dive into the Settings app on your device -> “Apple Intelligence is Ready” alert showing under the Apple ID banner -> Set Up Apple Intelligence and go through the instructions to complete the procedure.
