Thanks to the release of iOS 18.1 beta 2, Apple has finally allowed EU users to get Apple Intelligence on their iPhones and iPads. If you are someone who was disappointed by the absence of Apple Intelligence on your device and therefore couldn’t try Apple’s artificial intelligence, now is the right time to break the shackles and take the AI for a spin. Read on…
Get Apple Intelligence in the EU on iPhone & iPad
Be warned that your device may not be compatible with Apple Intelligence. As it is made to work with only Apple M-Series and A17 Pro (iPhone 15 Pro & 15 Pro Max) devices, make sure to fully ensure whether or not you have the supported iPhone/iPad model.
Install iOS 18.1/iPadOS 18.1 Beta 2 on Your iPhone or iPad
- Having checked the device compatibility, go to the Settings app -> General -> Software Update.
- Beta Updates -> iOS 18.1 Developer Beta or iPadOS 18.1 Developer Beta -> Hit the back button at the top left -> download and install the update as usual.
Change Language and Region on Your iPhone or iPad
The ability to unlock Apple Intelligence outside the US or in the European Union lies in changing the language and region. Are you concerned that changing language/region will impact your App Store regions and purchases? Fret not! It’s worth pointing out that it won’t impact the App Store regions and purchases.
- Navigate to the Settings -> General ➝ Language & Region. Now, tap on Add Language and choose English US.
- After that, tap on Region and choose the United States.
Join the Apple Intelligence Waitlist Using Your iPhone or iPad
- Dive into the Settings menu -> Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Tap the drop-down menu next to Language -> pick the English (United States) option.
- Now, tap “Join Apple Music Waitlist” and hit “Join Waitlist.
And there you have it! You will soon be confirmed that your wait is over and Apple Intelligence is ready to go live on your iDevice. Now, it’s time to set up the AI and start using it to your heart’s content.
While putting Apple Intelligence against the more capable rivals like Google Gemini and OpenAI ChatGPT seems to be an immature affair as of now, I don’t think it’s going to take a lot of time for the iPhone maker to bridge the gap. Backed by years of expertise and the wicked power of Apple’s custom chip, Apple’s AI has got both the robust framework and repertoire to excel. Hence, it would be fascinating to see Apple Intelligence progress.
