How to Fix Apple Watch Unresponsive to Touch After watchOS 11 Update

If your Apple Watch has become unresponsive to the touch after the watchOS 11 software update, you are not alone. A good many Apple Watch owners, who had recently installed the latest watchOS beta, have complained about the unresponsive touchscreen. But bother not as we have discussed some workable tips to resolve the issue and bring the ill-functioning screen back on track.

Apart from a random software glitch, villains like outdated apps and too many apps running in the background could be at the heart of the frozen touchscreen of your Apple Watch.

1. Hard Reset Your Apple Watch

First off, it would be better to give a chance to hard reset as it has the reputation of fixing the unresponsive Apple Watch screen in a jiffy.

  • To force reset your Apple Watch, hold down the Digital Crown and the Side button simultaneously until the screen becomes pitch black and the ageless Apple logo welcomes you.

2. Remove the Screen Guard/Screen Protector

Still faced with the frozen touchscreen? Try removing the screen guard as it could also be spoiling your party. Note that some rugged cases also tend to cause the screen to become unresponsive. Therefore, if you have installed a heavy-duty or a rugged cover, remove it.

3. Force Quit All Apps

If your Apple Watch has started to respond to the touch, I would suggest you force quit all apps. If there are too many apps open and running in the background, it could be causing the problem.

  • To do so, double-press the Digital Crown to bring up the App Switcher on your Apple Watch.
  • After that, swipe left on the app card and hit the red X button. Now, repeat the same quick steps to get rid of all the apps.

4. Update All Apps

If your Apple Watch is running too many outdated apps, it could be the main reason why the touchscreen is not working or becomes unresponsive. Therefore, try updating all apps on your Apple Watch.

  • To get it done, launch the App Store app on your Apple Watch -> Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap on the Account option.
  • Then, tap on the Update button.
  • Finally, you can update all apps at once or update one app at a time.

5. Erase Your Apple Watch and Re-Pair It With Your Apple Watch

Should your Apple Watch’s touchscreen continue to be unresponsive, it’s time to go for the nuclear solution. And with it, I mean wiping out the entire Apple Watch and re-connecting it with the iPhone.

  • Just open the Watch app on your iPhone -> General -> Reset -> Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings.
  • Once you have erased your Apple Watch, re-pair it with your iPhone.
