How to Disallow Installing and Deleting Apps on iPhone and iPad 

If you often hand over your iPhone to your kid for playing games or watching educational videos, you should make sure to enable some important restrictions including the compulsion to ask for your permission to purchase any item. Another essential limitation that you should activate at the earliest is to disallow installing and deleting apps on your iPhone and iPad. Here is how you can set up and use this must-have parental control feature:

Thanks to Screen Time, the built-in parental control tool, it’s pretty straightforward to not only put a blanket ban on several features but also hide apps on iOS. No prizes for guessing! In this guide, we will use this very feature to restrict both the installation of new apps and deleting the existing apps. 

As for the requirements, you must have iOS 12 or later to be able to use Screen Time. 

Disallow Installing Apps on iPhone and iPad 

Step 1. First off, open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

Step 2. In the Settings menu, choose Screen Time

Step 3. After that, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select Content & Privacy Restrictions. 

Step 4. Now, turn on the toggle next to Content & Privacy Restrictions

Step 5. Next, select iTunes & App Store Purchases

Step 6. Next up, tap on Installing Apps and choose Don’t Allow to stop anyone from installing apps on your iPhone or iPad.

Disallow Deleting Apps on iPhone and iPad 

Step 1. Head over to the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad -> Screen Time -> Content & Privacy Restrictions -> turn on the toggle next to Content & Privacy Restrictions -> iTunes & App Store Purchases

Step 2. Now, tap on Deleting Apps and choose Don’t Allow

That’s it! Going forward, no one will be able to delete apps on your iPhone without your permission. 

It’s worth pointing out that on this very screen, there is also an option to block in-app purchases. So, if you no longer want your child or for that matter, anyone to make in-app purchases, tap on In-app purchases and select Don’t Allow to restrict it. 

Later, if you ever happen to change your mind, return to this very iTunes & App Store Purchases setting and then select Allow for the preferred options.
