How to Customize Notification View in iOS 16 on iPhone

One of the most talked about iOS 16 features is the redesigned Notification Centre. Unlike before, notifications now appear from the bottom of the display in a pretty neat stacked layout. What’s more, you can use the nifty pinch gesture to tweak the layout of the notification list. And if you wish to shield your notifications from prying eyes, there is a way to do that as well. On this very note, let’s learn how to customize notification view in iOS 16 on iPhone.

Change Notification View on iPhone in iOS 16

Whether you are fond of a neatly organized notification view or like to keep notifications under the wraps, there is a notification view for you.

Step 1. On your iPhone running iOS 16 or later, launch the Settings app.

Step 2. Now, scroll down and tap on Notifications.

Step 3. Under Display As, you have three options to choose from:

  • Stack: Selected by default, it presents your notifications in a stack.
  • List: it shows your notifications in the iOS 15-style list view. Yeah, you got that right! This is exactly what you should pick to bring back the old-style notification view.
  • Count: it shows your notifications in a count view. Times when you may want to keep your notifications hidden, you should choose this notification view. When selected, it shows notifications as 1 notification, 2 notifications, 3 notifications, and more.

Now, choose the preferred option and you are all set!

It’s worth pointing out that you can quickly hide your notifications or turn them into the count view by just swiping down on the notifications. It’s temporary and will default to the selected layout when the new notifications arrive.
