How to Create Your Own GIFs in Twitter on iPhone and iPad

Thanks to a recent update, you can now create your own GIFs in Twitter on iPhone and iPad. If you are fond of animated images and love to share them with your friends and followers, chances are pretty high that you may want to create some personalized animated images and tweet them. Let me help you get going!

First and foremost, do note that currently, the ability to make custom GIFs is available only on Twitter for iOS with the micro-blogging service likely to release this exciting feature on Android sometime in the future.

Before getting started, ensure that you have updated Twitter to the latest version. If you haven’t done it already, head over to the App Store on your iPhone or iPad > Tap your profile at the top right corner of the screen > Scroll down to find Twitter, and then hit Update located right next to it.

Step 1. Once you have successfully updated Twitter on your device, launch the app and then tap the “+” plus button at the bottom right corner of the screen to start composing a tweet.

Step 2. Next, tap the “Picture” icon that appears in the compose window right above the virtual keyboard.

Step 3. Next up, tap the Camera icon and ensure that GIF is selected below the Shutter button.

Step 4. Up next, you can tap the Shutter button to create a short GIF. If you wish to record a longer GIF, long-press the button.

Step 5. You can use the arrow icons above the viewfinder to set the GIF to repeat from the start or choose to continually invert the direction of playback for a fun-loving boomerang effect.

Step 6. Finally, hit the Use GIF button and then tweet your cool GIF. If you wish to start from scratch, tap Retate and then do the needful.

Bear in mind that the GIFs created in this way can only be tweeted. Yeah, you got that right! You can’t save such GIFs on your iOS device. If you would like to see this feature live, check out the video below.
