Here’s How iOS 19 Can Let You Transfer eSIM from iPhone to Android Faster

While both iOS and Android have come a long way, there is one feature that has been missing on these mobile operating systems for years. Well, it’s the ability to transfer eSIM from an iPhone to Android or vice versa that hasn’t received a green signal yet – despite being such a useful feature.

However, if the latest report from Android Authority proves to be true, transferring eSIM from an iPhone to Android will become faster and seamless.

Apple is reportedly working on a long-awaited feature in iOS 19 that could make transferring an eSIM from an iPhone to an Android device significantly easier.

According to findings by Android Authority, early code in the Android 16 beta reveals that Google’s SIM Manager includes a new option labeled “Transfer to Android.” This discovery hints at upcoming support for wireless eSIM transfers directly from iPhone to Android—something that has traditionally required user intervention through their carrier.

Currently, Apple’s Quick Transfer system allows for seamless eSIM migration between iPhones, but switching to Android devices has been a much more cumbersome process. It typically involves contacting your mobile carrier, waiting for manual support, and reactivating your eSIM on the new device.

With this potential new addition in iOS 19, Apple may finally bridge that gap and streamline cross-platform transfers.

  • The feature is expected to live under Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone, where existing iPhone-to-iPhone transfer options are already available.

  • By expanding this section to include “Transfer to Android,” Apple could allow users to move their mobile plan to an Android phone with just a few taps.

Notably, the code also suggests that iOS 19 will be a requirement for initiating the process, meaning older iOS versions won’t support this new functionality. In the event that a wireless transfer doesn’t work, users may be given a QR code as a backup solution to complete the setup manually on their Android device.

  • A sample prompt from the code reads:
  • “On your other device, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Transfer to Android.”

While Apple has yet to officially confirm this feature, it’s possible the company will unveil more details during its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). In parallel, Google may also be developing tools to make eSIM transfers from Android to iPhone equally smooth.

If rolled out, this feature would mark a significant step toward improving user flexibility and reducing friction when switching between mobile platforms—a win for both Apple and Android users alike.
