Pretty much in tune with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, the Voice Memos app in macOS 15 has also got the “Live Audio Transcription” feature. Getting the most out of AI, it lets you turn your audio recording into text in real time. In terms of accuracy, this new add-on is up to the task. Sadly, many Mac users have complained that the “Live Audio Transcription” icon is missing in the Voice Memos app. If it’s also not showing up on your macOS device, I have got you covered with a quick fix. Live Audio Transcription Missing in Voice Memos in macOS 15 Sequoia? Quick Fix!
More often than not, you will be able to fix the disappearance of the Live Audio Transcription feature by ticking off the language/region requirement. If that doesn’t serve the purpose, updating the software will likely get the job done.
Change the Country/Region on Your Mac
To begin with, you should be fully aware of the fact that the Live Audio Transcription feature is not available everywhere. Before you become disappointed, let me tell you that you can get this feature by changing the country/region to the United States on your Mac. As it’s a safe and native method, you don’t have to be concerned about losing your precious media and data.
- To get it done, navigate to the System Settings app on your Mac -> General -> Language & Region.
- Now, hit the drop-down menu next to Region -> Select Americas -> After that, scroll down to the bottom and choose United States.
- Next up, you will have to reboot your Mac for the change to come into effect.
- After your Mac has rebooted, go to the Voice Memos app and hit the Record button.
- Next, click on the Live Audio Transcription aka Quotation mark icon at the top right corner of the screen.
- Then, speak your mind at your own speed and flow. Your recording will be transcribed in real-time and the last words will be highlighted smartly so that you can track the transcription and stay in sync.
- During the recording, if you wish to pause, hit the record button. To begin with the audio recording again, click on the Resume button.
- To save your recording and transcription, hit the Done button at the bottom.
Update Software
Is the Live Audio Transcription still not showing up in the Voice Memos app on your Mac? If you are nodding in the affirmative, update the software as it could be the after-effect of a software bug.
- Navigate to the System Settings app on your Mac -> General -> Software Update -> Download and install the macOS update as usual.
Once you have updated your Mac, navigate to the Voice Memos app to check if the Live Audio Transcription feature has returned to its usual location or not. I hope the icon has come back to where it belongs.
