Live Audio Transcription Missing in Voice Memos in iOS 18 on iPhone & iPad? Quick Fix
Keep in mind that currently the Live Audio Transcription feature is available in only select countries and regions such as the United States. Therefore, you will need to change the region to the United States on your iPhone to get this feature.
- To do so, open the Settings app on your iPhone running iOS 18 or later.
- After that, select General.
- Now, choose the Language & Region option to continue.
- Then, tap “Region”.
- Next, you need to scroll down to find “United States” and select it.
- Next up, restart your iPhone.
- Once your iOS device has rebooted, launch the Voice Memos app and hit the Record button.
- Up next, drag the grabber upward to make the recording screen go full screen.
- Hit the Live Audio Transcription icon that looks like a quotation mark to activate it.
- Now, record your thoughts and have them transcribed in real time.
- Be sure to tap on the Done button at the bottom right corner of the screen to save both your recording and the transcription.
- Hopefully, you have fixed the problem and the Live Audio Transcription feature has begun to work as usual on your iPhone.
Update the Software
However, if you still can’t use the Live Audio Transcription feature in the Apple Voice Memos app, try updating the software as there is a high chance that the problem could be due to a software bug.
- To do so, open the Settings app on your iPhone -> General -> Software Update -> download and install the latest update. And that’s all there is to it!
- Now, head over to the Voice Memos and check if the Live Audio Transcription feature has come back or not. Hopefully, you have gotten the better of the problem for good.
