Fix iPhone Not Showing Up in iTunes After iOS 18 Update
From an uncertified USB cable to an outdated iTunes version to a software bug, there could be many reasons why your iPhone is not able to appear in iTunes.
1. Force Kill the iTunes App and Try Again
To get going, I would recommend you force kill the iTunes app on your Windows device and try again.
- First off, disconnect your iPhone from your Windows Computer.
- Then, press the CTRL+Shift+ESC keys at once to bring up the task manager -> select iTunes in the left sidebar, and hit the End task option.
- Now, re-connect your iPhone to your computer using a certified cable and launch iTunes.
- When prompted to trust the computer, make sure to hit the “Trust” option in the alert on your iPhone.
- Your iPhone should appear in the top left menu of the screen.
2. Restart Both Your Computer and iPhone
If your iPhone continues to be absent from the iTunes menu, reboot both the computer and your iOS device. If this issue is the byproduct of a software glitch, a quick reboot will let you resolve it.
3. Update iTunes
Is your computer running an outdated version of iTunes? If you are nodding in the affirmative, I suspect the devil could be in the outdated iTunes version.
- To do so, fire up the Microsoft Store app on your computer -> select the Library tab -> find iTunes, and hit the “Update” option right next to it.
4. Update Your PC
Should your iPhone remain missing from iTunes, try updating your PC. Without any doubt, the problem could be with your PC as well.
- To do so, head into the Start menu -> Settings app -> Windows Update -> download and install the update.
5. Update Your iPhone
No luck as yet? Now is the right time to look into the software of your iPhone as well since there is a high chance that an iOS 18 bug might be at work.
- On your iPhone, launch the Settings app -> General -> Software Update -> download and install the latest iOS 18 update.
- Once you have successfully updated your iOS device, connect it to your computer and launch iTunes to check if you have overcome the hurdle. If you have, an iOS 18 software bug was causing the problem.
- I hope the issue no longer comes back to haunt your device. If it ever happens to return, these same set of tips will rescue you. So, make sure to bookmark this guide.
