Fix Mirroring Live Activities from iPhone to Apple Watch

From a software bug to app incompatibility to wrong configuration, there could be many reasons why mirroring live activities from iOS to watchOS is not working. Let’s look into each possible suspect and nab it sooner rather than later.

1. Make Sure Your App Supports Mirroring Content from iPhone to Apple Watch

Bear in mind that watchOS 11 is still in the nascent. Hence, there is a high chance that your app might not have been updated to take advantage of this new feature.

  • To do so, dive into the Watch app on your iPhone > General > Auto-Launch > Live Activities Settings.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the screen to find the “Mirror iPhone Live Activities From” section and make sure your apps are listed below.

  • If an app doesn’t show up here, it won’t be supported.
  • However, if the app in question is listed, tap it and then make sure that the toggle next to “Mirror Live Activities from iPhone” is turned on.

2. Have You Enabled Live Activities for iPhone App?

Though Live Activities is enabled by default for a compatible app, it would be better to check the settings and ensure that the feature is active.

  • On your iOS device, open the Settings app > Apps > Choose the supported app and be sure that the switch next to Live Activities is enabled.

3. Hard Reset Your iPhone and Apple Watch

If mirroring live activities continues to fail, force reset your iPhone and Apple Watch. If it is plagued by a minor software glitch, force restart will likely resolve it.

4. Update the Apps

Outdated apps are considered to be the mother of many problems including sluggishness, battery drain, and random freezing. Update the live activity apps as the outdated versions might very well be the main culprits.

  • On Your Apple Watch, launch the App Store > Scroll down and tap on Account > Updates > Now, update all the watchOS apps.
  • On paired iPhone, fire up the App Store > your profile > scroll down to view all the apps that need to be updated > then, update them all – either at once or one by one.

5. Update Software

No solution as yet? An iOS or watchOS bug could be coming in the way. Hopefully, the software update will eliminate the bug and bring this feature back on track.

  • On your iPhone, open the Settings app > General > Software Update > download and install the update.
  • To update your Apple Watch, head over to the Watch app on your iPhone > General > Software Update.

6. Erase Your Apple Watch and Re-Pair It With Your iPhone

Should the live activities mirroring remain dysfunctional, completely erase your Apple Watch and re-pair it with your iPhone.

  • On your connected iPhone, go to the Watch App > General > Reset > Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings.

  • Once your watchOS device has been erased, launch the Watch app and then follow the instructions to complete the pairing process.
  • After that, enable Live Activities to check if it shows up on the Apple Watch. Most likely, it should be back in action without any hurdle.
