In what could be a huge deal for F1 fans, Apple is bringing the thrill of Formula 1 closer than ever with a stunning new update to Apple Maps, just in time for the 2025 TAG Heuer Grand Prix de Monaco. Yeah, you got that right! The latest Custom City Experience delivers a visually immersive, detail-rich digital replica of Monaco, designed to enhance how fans and visitors explore the iconic racing destination, on and off the track.
Monaco’s Most Celebrated Landmarks
As part of the Detailed City Experience, Apple Maps now showcases Monaco’s most celebrated landmarks in high-resolution 3D. From the luxurious Casino de Monte-Carlo and the Fairmont Monte Carlo to the exclusive Yacht Club de Monaco and the F1 Paddock Club, the virtual tour of the city is nothing short of cinematic. When using dark mode at dusk, the city transforms with a soft moonlit glow, making for a striking, lifelike experience.

But this update goes beyond looks. Apple has introduced several practical navigation features, including precise road markings, land cover details, pedestrian crossings, and updated public transit routes. A brand-new windshield view offers a driver’s-eye perspective when approaching complicated interchanges—adding both realism and clarity.
3D-rendered Grandstands
F1 fans will find special enhancements tailored just for them. The famous Monaco circuit is clearly outlined, featuring 3D-rendered grandstands, footbridges, turn indicators, and a marked finish line. Apple Maps will also provide real-time advisories for road closures and access changes during race weekend, helping visitors navigate the excitement with ease.
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services, Eddy Cue, emphasized the update’s significance:
“Apple Maps is the best way to navigate and explore the world, so we’re thrilled to bring this unique experience to F1 fans and visitors in Monaco. It’s a perfect companion to the race and to the upcoming launch of ‘F1 The Movie.“
To further celebrate Formula 1, Apple has also released a curated Apple Maps Guide highlighting famous F1 circuits around the globe, many of which appear in the Brad Pitt-led film “F1 The Movie,” debuting June 25.
The enhanced Apple Maps experience is rolling out now—just ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, May 23 to 25—offering fans an exciting new way to connect with the sport’s most glamorous race.
